Supply of transformers for a thermal power plant

Tamini has installed for Ansaldo Energia the largest transformer ever built in Italy

Customer: Ansaldo Energia S.p.A.
Solution: Transformers
Realized by:

Tamini oversaw the design, construction and delivery of three power transformers for Ansaldo Energia, an international supplier of conventional and renewable flexible energy solutions. The transformers, built entirely at the facility in Legnano (Milan), supply the gas turbine, the steam turbine and the auxiliary services provided by Ansaldo for the construction of the new combined cycle unit at the Tavazzano and Montanaso thermoelectric power plant (in the province of Lodi), owned by EP Produzione. The supply posed a new and significant challenge for Tamini, since the three transformers included the largest ever built in Italy, with power of 670 MVA and primary voltage of 400 kV. Tamini and Ansaldo Energia had to overcome the logistical difficulties associated with the transport from the construction facility to the power station: the main transformer’s weight in the transport arrangement was around 350 tonnes. In the context of the important decade-long collaboration with the Ansaldo Group, the supply confirms the high levels of quality and reliability of Tamini’s made in Italy transformers.
